چکیده

An automatic measurement system for terahertz (THz) transmission spectroscopy based on difference-frequency generation (DFG) of widely tunable coherent THz waves via excitation of a phonon–polariton mode in GaP was constructed and improved to give it a wider frequency measurement range and four times greater S/N ratio by using the double-beam method. In this paper, we present spectroscopic measurements of nucleobases, nucleosides, deoxynucleosides, and nucleotides, all of which are the components of RNA and DNA molecules, in the range of 0.4–5.8 THz in order to compare their characteristic features in the wider terahertz frequency region. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Transmission Properties of the Periodic Structures Based on Graphene Nonlinear Optical Conductivity in a Terahertz Field

By developing the terahertz (THz) technology, in addition to generators and detectors of THz waves, the existence of some tools such as modulators and filters are needed. THz filters are important tools for various applications in the field of chemical and biological sensors. Linear and nonlinear optical properties of the graphene have attracted lots of attention. In fact graphene exhibits vari...

Terahertz-wave spectroscopy for precise histopathological imaging of tumor and non-tumor lesions in paraffin sections.

Terahertz (THz; 10(12) Hz) waves have a frequency from 0.1 to 10 THz between the visible light and microwave domains. THz waves are expected to be useful for analysis of the histological features, without any staining procedure that is an indispensable prerequisite for optical microscopy. It has been demonstrated that THz transmittances at cancer and normal tissues are different. However, spect...

Temperature Effect on THz Quantum Cascade Lasers

A simple semi-phenomenological model, which accurately predicts the dependence of thresholdcurrent for temperature of Resonant-phonon three well quantum cascade laser based on verticaltransitions is offered. We found that, the longitude optical phonon scattering of thermally excitedelectrons is the most important limiting factor for thermal performance of high frequency THz QCLs.In low frequenc...

Nano-antenna in a photoconductive photomixer for highly efficient continuous wave terahertz emission

We report highly efficient continuous-wave terahertz (THz) photoconductive antenna based photomixer employing nano-gap electrodes in the active region. The tip-to-tip nano-gap electrode structure provides strong THz field enhancement and acts as a nano-antenna to radiate the THz wave generated in the active region of the photomixer. In addition, it provides good impedance matching to the THz pl...
